Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

Early morning departure towards Ouarzazate. Cross the High Atlas Mountains and pass through the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, reaching an altitude of 2,260 meters, the highest road pass in Morocco connecting Marrakech to the Saharan regions. Stop to visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic location, featured in numerous films, offers an immersive experience into traditional Berber architecture.
Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, explore the Taourirt Kasbah, built in the 17th century and described as an architectural gem by Henri Terrasse in his book Kasbas Berbères de l’Atlas et des Oasis. Ouarzazate, nestled in the shade of its palm trees, contrasts with the vast rocky desert surroundings. The nearby oases and mountains are home to natural and architectural treasures, including kasbahs with earthen walls and imposing towers, testaments to a fascinating past.
